Our Mission
County of Monterey’s Family and Children’s Services provides a holistic, collaborative, and community-engaged approach to working with children and families involved in the Child Welfare System.
Our goal is to:
Support community partners who care for children in our community in an effort to achieve strong outcomes;
Recruit qualified and nurturing Resource Families to meet the children’s needs;
Place children with near-kin and support efforts to maintain family connections;

the process of returning a foster child to their parent or guardian when appropriate. County of Monterey’s Family and Children’s Services supports families through services like counseling, parenting classes, and substance use treatment. Social workers and the Juvenile Dependency Court work together to ensure the home is safe and stable before the child returns.
